The Tanaka 3 piece pipe was designed specifically for Tanaka engines used on Tanaka's Tanaka Paverunners and Bladez's Bladez Mobys. With minor modifications, this pipe has also been mounted on Active engines.
Performance
When it comes to mounting a Tanaka engine on a Bladez or Takana scooter, this pipe can't be beat. Its performance is comparable to the similarly styled Bladez 3 Stage Pipe but will out perform the Bladez pipe in both torque and top speed.
Muffler adapter
This pipe includes a muffler adapter to fit on the end of the stinger in order to silence the engine. In most cases, mounting the muffler on the end of this pipe has produced and increase in performance.
Bladez/Tanaka Specific Fitting
This pipe was designed specifically to be used on Bladez and Tanaka scooters. You can see this most specifically by the shape the on the end of the pipe which includes the silencer and stinger. The two smaller holes line up precisely with mounting hold on the transmission of these scooters.
The pipe itself is quite a tight fit as it fits just above the back wheel. Though it make appear so, this pipe will not fit on an Evo 2 or 2x.
Since this pipe bolts to the scooter from both ends, it is extremely secure. It is unheard of for this pipe to rattle free when properly installed.
I have a Tanaka 47R engine center-mounted on my Diamondback mountain bike. Believe it or not, this pipe fits almost perfectly on my bike. However, it does not wrap around the engine, as designed. The head pipe faces the wrong way(vertically), so I used the Tanaka head pipe from the Tanaka powerkart. That one points 90 degrees in a horizontal direction and over the bike's top tube. Then the pipe wraps around and the endbleed goes under the bike's bottom tube. The silencer ends up right next to the air filter and has room to slip on the OEM muffler. I made a sandwich bracket to bolt the silencer onto the bike frame. The slip-fit connections are slightly off at the head pipe and endbleed, maybe less than an inch off, but the springs still fit and hold the pipes in place. Because no modifications were made to the pipe, performance is just as good as it is on the Tanaka scooter…which is awesome. The pipe works well, as evidenced by the spark plug's light-brown color at the gap.
