Bladez Moby Comp

The Comp was the only competition level scooter to be released by BaldeZ. In order to upgrade the Moby to a competition level scooter, front suspension, road tires and MX style bent bars were added for superior control and cruising comfort.

Like the other Bladez Moby's, the Comp has a simple reduction transmission which connects the drive shaft to the rear wheel. The double pulley, a heavy steel double gear, can be lightened to improve performance.

Front Suspension Forks

The BladeZ suspension may not look like much, but they have been said to provide the smoothest ride of any forks adapted for use on stand up scooters. Though they are not as rugged as the cam link suspension (which they can be interchanged with) it is unheard of for them to fail during the life of the scooter.


Comp MX style bent bars


The Comp has two braking mechanisms: the front, hand operated, mechanical disc brake and the rear foot pedal brake.

Front Disc

The font disc brake is operated via a hand level on the handlebars which operate a [Bowden_cable] which runs down the support pole and compresses the calipers.

The rear pedal brake is a simple lever which decelerates the scooter by pressing a rubber pad onto the surface of the wheel. Since this contact is made in the same area where the wheel makes contact with the road, driving conditions can drastically affect the performance of this brake. Though, under dry conditions, this brake's power is more than adequate.


The throttle is a simple finger lever which operates a [Bowden_cable] which is routed down through the support pole and deck to the carburettor of the engine.


The Comp was most commonly constructed in Taiwan with the final product assembled in the US.

United States

The Moby Comp began production in ??? and production ceased in summer 2007 when Bladez sold its rights to the brand in order to focus more on its other markets. (Exercise Equipment)

This scooter comes stock with a Tanaka 35 or Tanaka 40 which should last for the life of the scooter if it is properly looked after.

The clutch shaft and its bearings

A common point of failure for the Bladez transmission is the top shaft. It is constructed of a thin bar that will eventually work its way out of the bearings which hold it it place. This problem can be avoided by checking the state of the shaft's bearings often, but it is a good idea to keep a few top shafts handy in case of failure which will most likely happen.

You should immediately replace

Nothing! This scooter is one of the most reliable ever made. Even under negligent conditions, this scooter should live a long life.
